Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's or lamb's very first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from live sheep, usually in spring and in as complete a fleece as possible. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before it is dyed a wonderfully delicate pink and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely scratchy, breathable, and possess excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, though this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket may shed a little at the beginning.

The pink Velvet throw can be wonderfully machine-washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed.
