Güde Knives – the Solingen Knife Manufactory
At the Güde manufactory in Solingen, knives of the highest quality are produced. Founded in 1910 by Karl Güde, the Solingen knife forge is still run by the fourth generation of the Güde family today. With a wealth of experience and craftsmanship, Güde knives are forged from a single piece of steel, hand-ground, and fitted with the handles that have become so typical for Güde. Precision that thrills knife enthusiasts, amateur cooks, and professionals at the stove alike. The Güde manufactory offers exactly the right knife for every purpose.
Güde Knives – the Alpha Series
We have chosen the knives of the Alpha series because they are perfect for professional and amateur cooks and offer a great variety of models. Whether you prefer the finely polished handles made of robust and low-maintenance Hostaform, which are even dishwasher-safe, or would rather have a wooden handle made of barrel oak or olive wood, you can discover your favorite knife here.
In any case, the knives of the Alpha series are forged from a single piece of chrome-molybdenum-vanadium knife steel. During the so-called drop forging process, the entire blank is heated and shaped until, in up to 55 further work steps, a forged blank becomes a handcrafted knife from the Güde manufactory. A distinctive feature of the drop forging process is the so-called double bolster, the thickening of the blade steel. The front bolster protects the fingers and provides balance, just as the thickening at the end of the handle ensures a balanced feel. After all, a good Güde knife must be and remain sharp, be well-balanced, and sit comfortably in the hand so that you can work with it for a long time without fatigue.
