Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool is defined as the wool from a lamb's very first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is harvested from living sheep, usually in the spring, in as close to one piece as possible. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being beautifully dyed black and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely scratchy, breathable, and has excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft, extra pre-combing the lambswool for this purpose; however, this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket will shed a little, especially at the beginning.

The black Velvet throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that natural wool grease has a self-cleaning effect, and you will gradually wash it out with every wash.
