Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's (very) first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from living sheep, usually in the spring and as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed a wonderful reddish-brown and spun into yarn. The Klippan Stella blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely itchy, breathable, and has excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed. Nevertheless, this quality is naturally itchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket may shed a little, especially at the beginning.

The Stella living blanket can be washed wonderfully at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect and that you gradually wash it out with every wash.
