Anette Closheim, modern wines from the Nahe
In Langenlonsheim on the Nahe, Anette Closheim is the fourth generation to craft purist, modern wines. She has transformed a 150-year-old family winery into a producer of uncomplicated white wines, a summery rosé, and a velvety red wine that impress top chefs as much as they do the table at home.
Anette Closheim stands for modern wine from the Nahe region: easy-drinking, clear, and unpretentious. The winemaker represents the fourth generation to lead the family estate in Langenlonsheim and has quickly made a name for herself with her purist style and elegant labels. "My heart beats for wine," says Anette, and that is exactly what you taste in every bottle. We have been carrying her wines at "nur Gutes" since 2013, and they delight our customers anew year after year.
From spirits marketing back to the Nahe
Anette’s path to becoming a winemaker was not set in stone; it was a detour through the spirits industry that led her to her own wine. She grew up among the vines, in the fresh air, with plenty of activity and freedom, which she still loves today.
After studying wine business administration, she initially marketed single malt whisky and premium vodkas internationally and with great success. But the vineyards wouldn't let go of her. Back at the winery, she received her first vines from her father to experiment with, and from her diverse international experiences, a distinct, modern line of wines with a clear vision emerged step by step.
In 2008, Anette Closheim took over the 150-year-old family estate and consistently pivoted it toward her own style. Together with her husband Philipp, she reduced the range and increased the quality. The combination of female power and a big heart for wine resulted in a signature style that is now appreciated far beyond the Nahe, by sommeliers and home connoisseurs alike.
The winery is located in the northern, cooler part of the Nahe, which is beneficial for freshness and aromatics. Anette tends her vines on around 10 hectares of vineyards, caring for them by hand and observing them closely. Those who meet her describe her as grounded, energetic, and clear—a woman who knows what she wants.
Cuvée, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Rosé
The range is manageable and consistently easy-drinking, fruity, and uncomplicated, from a sociable all-rounder to a refined Riesling. Anette Closheim makes wines that are immediately understood, without the need to study wine knowledge.
The Cuvée Blanc Hier & Jetzt (Here & Now) is the fragrant white wine cuvée for every day, the Riesling mit Freunden (Riesling with Friends) dispels old prejudices against Riesling, and the Weißer Burgunder mit Freunden (Pinot Blanc with Friends) brings a creamy melt to the glass. Those who prefer something expressive and grassy should reach for the Sauvignon Blanc savvy, the secret star of the collection.
There is also the berry-forward Rosé Jubel & Trubel (Joy & Commotion) for balmy evenings and the velvety Cuvée Rouge Feuer & Flamme (Fire & Flame) for red-wine moments. For a dry-ish style, there is also the Riesling Kabinett Jederzeit & Überall (Anytime & Anywhere). To get to know them, four wines are bundled in the Closheim wine pack, a small wine tasting for home.
The "with friends" line provides a common thread, including Riesling and Pinot Blanc, intended for social gatherings without the need for a big occasion. The cuvées bear names like "Here & Now," "Joy & Commotion," or "Fire & Flame"—little invitations to enjoy. In this way, the name itself sets the tone.
Purist, modern, and from the Nahe
Anette’s philosophy is quickly told: less is more. She prefers a few clearly defined wines over a confusing assortment, and freshness and drinkability over heavy opulence.
She relies on temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and predominantly vegan vinification to preserve the fresh fruit. The Nahe provides the best conditions for this; on just 4,200 hectares, the region possesses the greatest soil diversity of all German wine-growing areas, with around 180 soil variations. Quartz, variegated sandstone, loess, loam, and porphyry characterize the sites around Langenlonsheim.
You can taste this diversity; every soil brings its own minerality into the glass. Added to this are the modern, timeless labels that reflect Anette’s high quality standards—cleanly designed and unmistakable. In this way, she shows the Nahe from a young, fresh side without denying its roots.
When it comes to enjoyment, Anette remains clear as well; she is part of the "Wine in Moderation" initiative and stands for conscious, moderate wine consumption. Quality over quantity is her mantra, both in the cellar and in the glass.
Riesling Discovery of the Year and 3 stars
With one of her first vintages, Anette Closheim was named "Riesling Discovery of the Year" by *weinwelt* magazine, the first female winemaker ever to receive the title. An early success that had a lasting impact.
The award brought her to the attention of many sommeliers and top chefs; some even discovered her wines at a food festival. Today, major wine guides feature her prominently, with 3 stars from *Vinum* and 3 stars from *Eichelmann*, as well as 3 Fs in *Der Feinschmecker*. Anette is also committed to other female winemakers, serving on the board of the *Vinissima* association.
Her wine shop was awarded as an "Excellent Wine Shop" in 2021, and for her, the focus of enjoyment is on conscious drinking. One believes in the passion in every glass when someone works this clearly and consistently. Hats off.
Individual wines also shine: the Riesling with Friends won silver at the "Best of Riesling" competition and received a proud 88 points plus the "Best Buy" predicate in the *Vinum* wine guide 2026. Such results confirm the path Anette is consistently following.
Our favorites for every occasion
From Anette’s assortment, we have clear favorites for every occasion, from the aperitif to dinner to a sociable barbecue evening in the garden.
The Sauvignon Blanc savvy goes well with light summer cuisine, the Cuvée Blanc is the uncomplicated all-rounder for garden parties, and the Cuvée Rouge belongs at a barbecue with friends. Those who want to discover several wines at once are best served by the Closheim wine pack. If you would like more modern German wine, check out Markus Schneider from the Palatinate.
The Closheim wine pack is always a joy as a gift, as is a single bottle with its clean, beautiful label. For summer, we recommend the Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc; for cozy evenings, the Pinot Blanc or the Cuvée Rouge.
Serve the white wines and the rosé well-chilled at 10 to 12 degrees, and the red a few degrees warmer. Sample your way through the wines of the Nahe and find your favorite, whether fresh and white, berry-forward and rosé, or velvety and red. Here’s to Anette Closheim and her heart for wine, which you can taste in every bottle.
