Wool, virgin wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool is the wool from a sheep's first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is obtained from living sheep, usually in spring, in one piece if possible. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed a wonderful blue-green and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly itchy at all, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, yet this quality is naturally itchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket will shed a bit, especially at the beginning.
