Wool, new wool, or lambswool - what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's (very) first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from living sheep, usually in the spring, and as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed a wonderful saffron yellow and spun into yarn. The Klippan Knut blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure the blanket feels soft; the lambswool is specially pre-combed for this purpose. Nevertheless, this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket may pill slightly at the beginning.

The Knut throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that natural wool grease has a self-cleaning effect and you will gradually wash it out with every wash. Hang the saffron yellow Knut blanket in the fresh air and it will do without a washing machine afterwards.
