Wool, new wool or lambswool - what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool is the wool from a sheep's (very) first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from living sheep, usually in the spring and as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before it is dyed a wonderful dark grey and spun into yarn. The Klippan Knut blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely scratchy, breathable, and has excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, although this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be and the blanket may lint a little at the beginning.

The Knut throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect and you wash it out bit by bit with every wash. The dark grey Knut blanket airs out in the fresh air, which benefits the lambswool more than frequent washing.
