Riesling Kamptal, dry and full of fruit
The 2022 Riesling Kamptal from Fred Loimer is a dry organic white wine from the Kamptal region. Juicy smoothness, tangy acidity, plenty of peach and citrus – a Riesling with excellent drinkability that represents its origin in a true-to-variety fashion.
Riesling Kamptal 2022 is the dry Riesling from the Fred Loimer winery in Langenlois. Grown on primary gneiss rock, which gives the Riesling its mineral tension. Lively acidity, elegant fruit, clear varietal character – a textbook Kamptal Riesling.
Peach, currant, candied lemon
On the nose, the Riesling smells of juicy peach, currant, and candied lemon, with a hint of honey like a spring meadow full of wildflowers.
On the palate, it is dry, with a juicy smoothness, distinct notes of apricot and citrus fruit, carried by a tangy acidity. With 6.7 g/l of acidity, it has bite, while the 4.6 g/l of residual sugar softens it. Pure drinkability.
Pairs with fish and seafood
Its lively acidity makes the Riesling Kamptal a classic companion for everything from the water.
Pan-seared or steamed fish, seafood, and light Asian cuisine suit it well – the acidity and citrus fruit bring freshness to the plate. It is also a good partner for spring salads or light poultry. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees in a Riesling glass. You can find more among our dry white wines.
50-year-old vines on primary gneiss rock
The grapes grow on vines up to 50 years old around Langenlois, mainly on primary gneiss rock, with a small portion on gravel and loess. Gneiss is the Riesling’s favorite home – it gives it minerality and drive.
Harvesting takes place in mid-October, by hand into small 20-kilo crates. After four hours of skin contact, the whole bunches are pressed and undergo spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine remains on the full lees until January before being bottled on the fine lees at the end of February 2023.
Fred Loimer manages the vineyards biodynamically; as part of the respekt-BIODYN association, they take a strict approach in the vineyard. If you are looking for the latest vintage, you can find the Riesling Kamptal 2025 and other wines from the Fred Loimer winery with us.
At nine to eleven degrees, it shows the clearest freshness
Well-chilled at 9 to 11 degrees, the Riesling shows its freshness most clearly. At 12% vol, it remains pleasantly light. It is juicy when young, but a few years of cellaring only make it more exciting – Riesling is capable of that.
