Sauvignon Blanc Tradition, fresh and aromatic from the Palatinate
The Philipp Kuhn Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a dry VDP.Gutswein from Laumersheim in the Palatinate. Aromatic, crisp, with a hint of flint. Not a loud tropical fruit bomb, but an elegant Sauvignon with a Palatinate signature.
Philipp Kuhn Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a fresh, aromatic estate wine from the Palatinate, pressed from this expressive aromatic grape variety. The vines grow on the three Laumersheim soil types: limestone, loess, and gravel. Let yourself be captivated by the green bouquet that rises so invitingly from the glass.
Gooseberry, kiwi, a touch of flint
It shines bright and clear in the glass. The nose detects a whole bouquet of green fruits: gooseberry, kiwi, melon, and green apple.
These are joined by freshly picked mint and a hint of flint. On the palate, it is juicy, spicy, and crisp, with pleasant acidity and an elegant backbone. A Sauvignon that calls for freshness while remaining refined.
This is exactly the Palatinate interpretation of the variety: not as over-the-top green as some New Zealand versions, but aromatic yet grounded. A wine that is lively and also pairs well with food.
Fish, goat cheese, and green asparagus
Sauvignon Blanc loves light, fresh cuisine. It is a particularly welcome companion to appetizers, mild Asian dishes, and fish of all kinds.
Served well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, it pairs beautifully with pan-seared fish, goat cheese, or a salad with green asparagus. With Asian cuisine, it prefers dishes that aren't too spicy. Three soil types around Laumersheim
The aromatic grape variety originates from the Loire Valley and has also been at home in the Palatinate for a good 25 years, where it has become a local favorite. The vines for the Sauvignon Blanc Tradition grow on the three Laumersheim soil types: limestone, loess, and gravel. Each soil brings a different characteristic to the glass, and together they create the wine's fine balance.
Philipp Kuhn harvests the grapes from each vineyard at their optimal ripeness by hand. After about two days of skin contact, they are gently pressed and fermented under temperature control. The wine remains on the fine lees until spring, which gives it depth and suppleness. "It has to be dry," is Philipp’s philosophy for all his wines.
He bottled his first vintage in 1992; today, the winery manages around 40 hectares and has been a member of the VDP since 2008. At 11.5% vol, it is a fresh VDP.Gutswein for every day. You can find more from the Palatinate in the other wines from Philipp Kuhn.
Well-chilled, the green freshness shines
Served well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, the Sauvignon displays its green freshness at its best. It is produced vegan, making it an enlivening companion for warm evenings and light meals. It tastes best freshly opened, but keeps well in the refrigerator for one to two days. Fresh, spicy, uncomplicated.
