Ekelund Frida Kahlo – Kitchen Towel
Frida Kahlo is one of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century. As a witness to history, she experienced the most significant social and artistic movement in Mexican history during and after the Cristiada, the cultural struggle following the Mexican Revolution.
The iconic artist was born on July 6, 1907, in Mexico City and passed away there on July 13, 1954. Since 1959, her parents' house, also known as Casa Azul, has housed the Frida Kahlo Museum, which displays many of her paintings, clothing, and indigenous jewelry.
Inspired by Mexican folklore, Frida Kahlo wears the Tehuana costume in many of her self-portraits, which refers to her mestizo heritage and was highly influential in terms of style. She likely owed her creativity to her father, the German-Mexican photographer Guillermo Kahlo. With her flower-adorned hairstyle, exaggerated blush, and strong eyebrows, she became a work of art herself. In her paintings, which are characterized by a highly autobiographical style, she processed the highs, but especially the lows, that life brought her: illness, death, suffering, love, and life – Viva la Vida. Thus, the artist, who always stood up for women's rights, serves as a role model for people all over the world with her strength, perseverance, and fearlessness.

Weaving Art from Sweden – in Nordic Design
Ekelund home textiles combine modern Nordic design with traditional Swedish weaving art. The Ekelund tablecloths and all other textiles have been produced exclusively in their own factory in Horred, Sweden, since 1692. All patterns are woven using a patented, innovative method called the Rainbow method, where 8 colored threads are woven in such a way that the motif can be seen in different colors on the reverse side. Ekelund fabrics consist of 100% organic cotton and organic linen. All textiles are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which establishes ecological and social criteria for the entire production process.
