Spicy sardines without skin and bones, doubly convenient
The spicy sardines without skin and bones from A Banca da Sardinha combine pure, deboned fillets with spicy chili olive oil. No fiddling at the table, no compromises on the heat.
Spicy sardines without skin and bones from A Banca da Sardinha are the only variety in the range that combines deboning with spice: 70 percent pure sardine fillet, complemented by olive oil and a delicate hint of chili. If you love the taste of sardines but dislike bones or mild flavors, you will find the perfect solution here.
Spicy, tender, uncomplicated
Without skin and bones, the sardine tastes purer, and the chili olive oil adds a distinct accent on top without overpowering the fish. Spicy, tender, and uncomplicated—this is how this tin presents itself from the very first bite on the spoon, without anyone ending up with a bone in their mouth.
It also contains less fat than the other varieties in the range, despite the robust chili olive oil. Crushed on toasted baguette with a squeeze of lemon, or finely pureed as a spicy sardine cream for dipping, the chili note unfolds directly. If you prefer things mild, you will find the corresponding version without chili in the same range.
Those who prefer them mild and boneless will find the right option in the sardines without skin and bones, while those willing to accept the bones to get the heat can choose the sardines with Malagueta chili. Spicy sardines without skin and bones remain the only combination of both in our range.
Hand-filleted, then spiced up
These sardines are also initially caught fresh off the Portuguese Atlantic coast and pre-cooked using the pré-cozido method before anything else happens. Only then does the most elaborate step of the entire recipe follow: skin and bones are removed by hand, fillet by fillet.
An effort that many manufacturers skip and that makes the difference here. Only afterward do the deboned fillets marinate in the chili olive oil so that the heat distributes evenly without tearing the fish.
Furthermore, they are caught using purse seine fishing, certified according to the MSC standard.
The spiciest boneless variety among many recipes
Behind A Banca da Sardinha is the Lisbon-based company Mediterran Food & Beverage, which has managed the brand since 2007—19 years—and has expanded its range to include many recipes. We carry almost all of them—this one is the only one that combines the double labor of deboning with heat.
It is precisely this diligence, combined with playful design, that has taken the brand beyond Portugal to England, the USA, and to us in Germany, where it has long had dedicated fans in the gourmet scene, including those who appreciate both heat and convenience equally.
Those who want to try their way through the entire A Banca da Sardinha range will find mild, smoked, and spicy varieties alongside each other, as well as other sardines from Portugal from other producers. Simply open and enjoy, with no detours and absolutely no bones—a fitting conclusion to our tour through the range.
