Questions about Wild Strawberry Jam?

We are happy to help you with L'Épicurien.

Strawberry preserve with strawberries and delicate wild strawberries from the South of France

L'Épicurien's wild strawberry preserve combines juicy garden strawberries with the aromatic tang of small wild strawberries, or "fraise des bois." Artfully cooked in Le Bosc, filled into an octagonal jar, and packed with fruit. This isn't just any ordinary supermarket spread, but a genuine confiture from the Languedoc.

Strawberry preserve with wild strawberries is a fruity spread that brings together the familiar strawberry with the rare fraise des bois. L'Épicurien from Le Bosc in the South of France fills every jar with 54 percent garden strawberries and 5 percent small wild strawberries, adding only cane sugar, concentrated lemon juice, and a touch of fruit pectin. This Confiture Fraise et Fraise des Bois tastes like summer.

Juicy, aromatic, full of summer

As soon as you open the jar, the preserve releases the scent of ripe strawberries just as they come warm from the fields in June—bright and seductive. A fragrance that instantly evokes long, sunny days.

On the palate, the strawberry preserve reveals itself to be fruity, juicy, and aromatic—the garden strawberry leads with its bright sweetness, followed by a flash of wild strawberry: small, dark, and with that tart, aromatic depth for which gourmets love the fraise des bois. The two harmonize brilliantly; one brings body, the other character. A splash of lemon keeps everything fresh. This is how summer tastes in a jar.

On a warm croissant

This wild strawberry preserve loves breakfast. On a warm croissant or fresh roll, it unfolds its full aroma—simple and beautiful. A single spoonful is enough to get your day off to a friendly start.

On buttered bread with lightly salted Bordier butter, the salt and fruit elevate one another. It also makes a brilliant appearance on pancakes, drizzled over vanilla ice cream, or stirred into plain yogurt, and when layered between two sponge cakes, it becomes a fine cake filling. For those looking for a darker, bittersweet option, reach for the fig preserve from the same producer.

Artisanal craft from the Languedoc

Behind this confiture is the Gandon family, who run the L'Épicurien manufactory in Le Bosc—a small village near Lake Salagou that smells of thyme, rosemary, and lavender.

What Bernard Le Gulvout founded as a small jam kitchen in the late 1980s and transitioned into its own production in 1989 has remained true to the same high standards for around 40 years. "We buy the best fruit and then we leave it alone," says Benoit Gandon. The strawberries are harvested at the perfect moment, hand-picked, and slowly frozen so that they seem almost fresh after thawing. From this commitment, an entire assortment of fruity confitures has grown over the years, and the wild strawberry is one of the finest.

The cooking is done in open copper kettles in small batches so that each strawberry remains somewhat intact instead of breaking down into a mush. Filled into the characteristic 210g octagonal jar, the wild strawberry is part of the curated collection of confitures from L'Épicurien. Among our many jams and fruit spreads, it is the fruity sunshine. If you love strawberry with character, you cannot pass this confiture by.

As a filling for warm crêpes

The strawberry preserve tastes best freshly opened, but it will keep in the refrigerator for several weeks. It makes an excellent filling for warm crêpes, or a fruity accent on a bowl of vanilla quark topped with a few fresh berries. It also pairs wonderfully with a piece of cheesecake or over a scoop of yogurt ice cream. This is how you can bring summer to your breakfast table, even in winter. Simply delicious!
