Güde Alpha Preparation Knife – with Oak Barrel Handle

The Güde Preparation Knife E765/16 from the Alpha series features a beautiful handle made of oak barrel wood. The Güde knife sits comfortably in the hand, thanks in part to the trademark of the Güde Alpha series: the second bolster, or forged pommel at the end of the handle, which gives Güde Alpha knives their excellent balance while cutting.

This versatile, all-purpose knife has a tapered blade and is an essential tool for any kitchen. Like all Güde knives, this Güde Alpha preparation knife is hand-forged and hand-sharpened. The 16 cm long blade, made from chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel, is forged in one piece, rust-proof, and ice-hardened. The typical knife rivets are made of stainless steel, though the palm rivet is made of non-stainless aluminum.

The handle scales, crafted from the oak wood of wine barrels over 80 years old, provide the special charm of this knife series. The preparation knife with the oak barrel handle should be cleaned by hand immediately after use. Usually, a dishcloth dampened with warm water is sufficient. The knife is not dishwasher safe.

In collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Harald Rüssel, whose gourmet restaurant and hotel, Landhaus St. Urban, is located in a side valley of the Moselle-Saar-Ruwer wine region and belongs to the Nik Weis winery, Güde created this series – not just for wine lovers and cooking enthusiasts. This knife series received the coveted Red Dot Design Award.

Blade hand-forged from a single piece of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel. Further processing involves over 40 manual steps. The handle scales are made from the oak wood of over 80-year-old wine barrels, which has become virtually indestructible due to its long maturation. Each handle scale is a unique piece; grains and inclusions are intentional and do not constitute a reason for complaint. The blade is rust-proof, ice-hardened, and hand-sharpened, and is not dishwasher safe.
