This solid-colored blanket with fringe, which is one of the Klippan classics, is available in many colors so that everyone can have their own blanket in their favorite shade. Here in the new color: infinity blue.

Whether you use the Klippan Gotland wool blanket as a throw for snuggling on the sofa, as a bedspread, or as a cozy blanket to drape over your shoulders on balmy summer evenings, you will love it. At 130x200 cm, the blue Gotland wool blanket is a good size for a cozy throw. Ultimately, size, alongside natural materials, softness, and beautiful aesthetics, plays an important role in making the Klippan Gotland blanket your favorite.

Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made partly (one quarter) from new wool from the Gotland sheep—a breed already shorn by the Vikings, who appreciated its high wool quality—and three-quarters from lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a lamb. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from live sheep, usually in the spring, and if possible, in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed a wonderful blue and spun into yarn. The Klippan Gotland blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is considered to be barely scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft, and for this, the lambswool is specially pre-combed; nevertheless, this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket will shed a little, especially at the beginning.

The Gotland blanket can be washed wonderfully at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that the natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect and that you gradually wash it out with every cycle. Hanging the blue Gotland blanket outside on the line is sufficient to freshen it up between washes.

Klippan Yllefabrik – Gotland – Throw

Design: Pernilla Magnusson (2016)

Quality: 75% lambswool, 25% Gotland sheep wool

Wool weight: 410g/m²

Color: infinity blue

Care: Hand wash and machine wool wash at 30 °C

Size: approx. 130cm x 200cm (incl. fringe)

Made in Europe

Klippan – Tradition and Swedish design

Klippan Yllefabrik products combine modern Swedish design with a tradition of more than one hundred years of spinning and weaving textiles from wool, cotton, and linen.
